By using semiconductor devices, power electronics facilitates very efficient conversion of electrical energy from/to a given/desired voltage/current level/shape/frequency as required by many industrial processes. The aim of this module is to provide an in depth knowledge of power electronics at a level suitable for final year undergraduate students. The module will use a number of system design exercises such as the interface of a small wind turbine and a photovoltaic panel to the power grid.
