PROTEIN STRUCTURE - You should be able to explain some of the different functional roles for proteins.

PROTEIN STRUCTURE - You should know the general structures of the amino acids.
PROTEIN STRUCTURE - You should understand that L-amino acids predominate in nature.
PROTEIN STRUCTURE - You should understand and be able to use the 3-letter and 1-letter amino acid codes.
PROTEIN STRUCTURE - You should be able to describe the different amino acid side chain structures.
PROTEIN STRUCTURE - You should understand the structure and nature of a peptide bond.
PROTEIN STRUCTURE - You should be able to explain the definitions of 1°, 2°, 3° and 4° structure and describe examples.
PROTEIN STRUCTURE - You should be understand the general roles of both covalent and non-covalent bonds in stabilising protein structure.
PROTEIN STRUCTURE - You should understand that there are structural levels between 2° and 3° stucture, known as 'supersecondary' srtucture, and be able to describe examples.
PROTEIN STRUCTURE - You should understand that proteins can be calssified into 'families' based on supersecondary structures (domains).
PROTEIN STRUCTURE - You should understand that most proteins are found in transient or stable protein complexes.
