The project aims to give experience in the practice of engineering at a professional level. It involves the planning, execution and reporting of a programme of work which will normally involve a mixture of experimental, theoretical and computational work together with a review of relevant previous work in the field. The detailed content is a matter for discussion between the student and his/her supervisor.

	LO1 – Demonstrate the ability to plan and execute a successful individual research project within time and budgetary constraints.
	LO2 – Communicate the outcome of the research in a publishable format and via an oral presentation.
	LO3 – Use and develop appropriate tools and methodologies such as CFD, FEA, Matlab, and/or experimental techniques, depending on the scope and subject area of the individual project.
	LO4 – Extract and synthesise pertinent data and information from identified technical literature and other information sources.
