No Group

Understand the basic concepts spectroscopy and the assays used for determing both protein and sugar

Be able to draw and interpret a standard curve

Be able to perform simple calculations linking optical density to the mass (and hence concentration) of a substance

Understand the principles of gel filtration using Sephadex chromatography and to be able to perform an experiment to separate BSA from glucose, using such a method

Be able to calculate, from the OD values, the mass of BSA and glucose that eluted from the column and hence the concentration of these molecules that were applied to the column

Be able to draw, using computer software, accurate tables and graphs of the data
