Describe the experiment by Griffith which discovered the process of bacterial transformation and the transforming principle, the experiment by Avery, MacLeod and McCarty which identified DNA as the transforming principle and the Hershey-Chase experiment which showed that the genetic material of phage T2 is DNA

Draw the basic structure of a nucleotide

Know that DNA is a double helix with two anti-parallel strands held together by H bonds between complementary base pairs

Identify the purine and pyrimidine bases and the main differences between them and understand the key difference between ribose and deoxyribose sugars

Know that DNA molecules can adopt different forms and that B form DNA is a right handed helix
